It sounds crazy for a wedding photographer to say that one of the most important things about the whole process is engagement session right? Shouldn’t it be the wedding day?
Well, YES! The wedding day is the most important part because that’s what we’re celebrating! We’re celebrating your marriage, becoming husband and wife, two people coming together and your love story. Wedding photos are all about the legacy of a marriage and the start of a new family!
Now that we’re clear on that and you know I’m not crazy, let’s talk about why the engagement session is also super important. The engagement session sets your wedding day up for success! I think one of the keys to getting photos that you love is to feel comfortable around your photographer. You want to feel like you know them, and that that they know you!
I remember being so nervous before our engagement session - did my hair and makeup look ok? Did I pick a good outfit and the right shoes? I remember being so worried about looking awkward, because let’s face it it, I’m not the most graceful person, but by the end, I was loving every second and when our wedding day came I wasn’t even worried about pictures! I actually fell during our engagement pictures and its one of our favorites! So no pressure guys, seriously. Here’s the proof:

At your engagement session, I want you to feel like you’re getting photos that celebrate the fact that you’re getting married, but also that we’re hanging out and getting to know each other! An engagement session gives me the opportunity to learn more about you, see how you as a couple work together and naturally interact, and to capture you two in a authentic way. You can get to know me and my husband Zach, our personalities, and how we work with posing and shooting too. I believe that having this experience will make you feel confident and comfortable in front of the camera when your wedding day rolls around!
That’s my goal for engagement sessions, and why I think they’re so important! I strive to provide you with everything you need to have a stress-free session and to make it super fun so that you feel prepared and excited to get back behind the camera on your wedding day!
