Let me ask you something - What are the things that we tend to cherish most? Memories, sentimental items, and things we just love. The things that matter most we, by nature, want to hold in our hands or hang on our walls, not just put in drawers on flash drives. I’m a firm believer that the things in our home should bring us joy and remind us of what’s important, and anything else can just go. So why would we just let our own memories stay on our computers and phones? This blog post is about just that! Below are three reasons that you should get your pictures printed! Don’t let another year go by where your memories remain as jpegs on your computer or phone.
1. Printed pictures help create a family legacy
Having printed pictures and photo albums to share with your kids and grandkids is one of the best ways for you to document your life! There’s something special about the old black and white photographs of our grandparents at their weddings, the family photo albums of our moms with pigtails as kids, wearing high waisted jeans as teenagers and their very fashionable Princess Diana - puffy sleeve wedding dresses. Why do these matter to us so much? Because they are tangible reminders that help us relive memories, remember family, and imagine what it was like then.
2. Technology is always changing
Another reason to print your photos is that technology is constantly changing. Floppy disks are basically on display in museums, most computers don’t have CD drives anymore and USB ports are on their way out! I can’t imagine something more scary than having all of our pictures and memories being on a device that is unusable. There are so many companies out there now that make it their business to retrieve these memories, but why go through all the trouble when you don’t have to?
3. Printed pictures help you remember your most fond memories!
One of my favorite things to do is look through our wedding album, family year book, and laugh at some of my favorite memories that we have hanging on our wall! I don’t have as many of our favorite photos printed out as I want to and that’s something we’re focusing on doing now! After our second anniversary went by and we still didn’t have a wedding album, I decided to get intentional about printing our memories. We have a few engagement photos hanging in our home, but have grand plans to create a gallery wall with more of our favorites from our wedding, anniversaries, and travels.
Because we care so much about our clients printing their portraits and preserving your memories in a tangible way, we make it easy to get quality prints! Our online gallery is connected to an amazing print shop where you can order professional quality prints without breaking the bank. We also offer full design services for our heirloom albums because we know you’re busy! We love professional prints for anything we hang on our walls because you can definitely see the difference, but for fun items and little everyday prints or photo books we love Artifact Uprising. I love their style and how they make things simple -They’re the best! I’ve linked below to some of our favorite products and prints at Artifact Uprising. Feel free to look around, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions!
Everyday Print Set
These prints are exactly what they are called- everyday prints! They are perfect for the pictures from your last trip that you took on your phone and want to have in your home. Their matte card stock material is perfect for setting on your book shelf or displaying on your coffee table. I will say, as a photographer, I don’t feel that the colors come out exactly like I edit them, but they are great nonetheless! They are perfect for what they are and do a great job of providing tangible memories around your home.Large Format Prints
These are a great option for printing large pictures to hang on your wall! They are more of a fine-art quality and a great option if you want to get some of your professional quality pictures printed. We use the Everyday Photo Book for our family year book! This is something that we started doing this year and I am so excited about it! Our 2018 year book came in the mail a few months ago and it is sitting on our coffee table and we get to look through some of our favorite memories, such as our London and Paris trip and both of our graduations from grad school!
Wood Block Photo Display
The Wood Block Photo Displays are all around our house! These were our first Artifact Uprising purchases and we both got some of our wedding pictures printed so we could keep them on our desks, and we love getting to swap around what pictures are displayed and getting to relive our wedding day!
So, if you read this post and think - this means a lot to me too and I want to get started printing all our photos the do it!! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, I know how hard it can be to get started so I would love to help!
